Home / Wooden Outdoor Structure Protection

Cedar siding, while naturally resistant to pests like ants, termites, and mice, must still be properly maintained reach its maximum lifespan — just 10 to 15 years. Even well-maintained cedar siding may only last around 20 to 30 years in some climates. Re-siding your home can be a considerable expense, and can be a serious drawback for many homeowners1.

Even when properly stained and painted, wood structures are highly susceptible to color degradation under rain and sun, even in ZONE 3 weather. FLUOROSEAL® transparent UV protective coating from AIT features a high fluorination molecular structure that is proven to block UV, rain, and moisture, including salt spray, to help improve and support structural integrity.

Just a very thin coating of 10-20 microns, the built-in molecular flexibility means FLUOROSEAL® is engineered to extend the life of these wooden structure and signs, even in extreme temperature swings in ZONE 2. FLUOROSEAL® coatings have even been proven to perform as protective coating in outer space satellites where extreme cold to extreme hot applications are the norm.

Cedar sidings, wooden signs, and painted structures are known to become blackened and discoloration within just a few years. FLUOROSEAL®  offers a transparent coating with the ability to block UV, moisture, and corrosive gases, which can easily extend the beauty of these painted wooden structures by 30-50 years.

In the case of virgin cedar and other wood structure, a thin transparent coating of FLUOROSEAL®, just 10-20 microns, can be used in place of traditional stains to provide protection against moisture, water, and UV penetration. This will help to preserve the inherent beauty of the wooden structure, while providing an additional 30-50 years of protection.

FLUOROSEAL® transparent UV protective coatings are compatible with almost all acrylic, polyurethane, epoxy, FEVE and PVDF-based paints and stains and can be directly applied.
